Background :
RIPA buffer is commonly used to extract proteins for immunoprecipitation and/or Western blotting. RIPA has strong extraction properties that solubilizes and extracts proteins from membranes and releases cytoplasmic cellular components. RIPA buffer is mildly denaturing since it contains ionic detergent.
